Blast of the past! Retro retreat - Golden

Location was awesome and host was very responsive.

This property was an amazing location. Very close to all attractions...all walkable. However, the property was extremely dirty and infested with bugs. The listing states that it sleeps 5. There is only 1 bedroom and no pull out sofa. We had to sleep on air mattresses in the dining room. There is only one window unit air conditioner. It was 100 during our stay and very uncomfortable. The yard looks nothing like the pictures and is completely over grown. This property has the potential to be very charming if it were clean and maintained properly. We would appreciate an offer of some type of refund for our stay.

When we arrived it looked like it had been vacant for some time. The yard and sidewalk were full of weeds that were well over a foot tall. Then, when we went inside the AC had not been running so it was very warm inside. (It was July and was in the 90s at this time.) We immediately turned on the AC and all the fans. In less than an hour the breaker tripped and the AC went out. My husband fixed it and the AC came on again. I did let the host know. We left for dinner and when we came back the AC had shut off again. The host suggested I go out back and plug in an extension cord to a different outlet outside the house. That extension cord was locked up in a shed, so we were unable to get to it. I let the host know it was way too hot to stay in the house, so we went to a hotel for the night. When we came back the next day, it was still very hot in the house; too hot to stay in, so we told the host we were leaving and would not be returning. We asked what the owners were willing to do to rectify the situation, and we never heard back despite repeated attempts. I will also note the cabinet in the bathroom above the toilet was broken and the door would not close, so you would almost hit your head on it if you weren't looking. Lastly, there is another external door that comes into the living room. This door WOULD NOT LOCK so anyone could open it from the outside! We have filed a claim with VRBO and they too are attempting to reach the host, but so far they have not gotten a response!!

Cute retro house only blocks away from downtown Golden! Far enough away that it was quiet but close to tube rentals to float down the river too:)

Yard was embarrassingly overgrown. Waded through weeds to get to door. Initial door code didn't work. Got new code. House was over 80 degrees inside. Has to retrieve window air conditioner power cord from outside the windows. Unit works well except for tripping the circuit breaker at least 6 times in 2 days. Electric outlet in front room overstuffed. Definitely not up to code. I don't usually write negative reviews but this 'gem' is false advertising. Pictures do not reflect the current condition of this property. I feel I was ripped off for the cost I paid. One positive...superb location.
